standing frame is assistive technology that can be used to provide an alternative positioning to sitting in
a wheelchair by supporting the person in the standing position.

Ian Fraser had his 65th birthday party and instead of presents he asked for donations to the Appeal,

27/05/14 Steve McGill and Richart Heywood Rally in aid of the Appeal!
Big 'thanks' to Steven McGill and his friend Richard Heywood who decided to upgrade their Gumball rally
Audi with David Azhar Appeal livery. They drove to Portrush (Northern Ireland) where the North
West 200 motorcycle race was being held in Northern Ireland. The course is a street circuit, made up of
public roads running between the towns of Portstewart, Coleraine and Portrush (the Triangle) and is one
of the fastest in the world, with speeds in excess of 200 mph (320 km/h). It is one of around fifteen
events run on public roads between April and October throughout the island of Ireland. It is the largest
annual sporting event in Ireland, with the race weekend attracting over 150,000 visitors from all over the
world. They took Appeal cans and buckets, put on their kilts and raised on our behalf.  You can see
some pictures of the car

20/09/11 Crazy Endurance Fund Raising from John Gemmell
John Gemmel is going to compete in the ‘Survival Of The Fittest’ an endurance race around the
Edinburgh Old Town for the David Azhar Appeal.

Some of the challenges include heading down the Royal Mile climbing over three-metre high walls of
straw bales outside the council buildings. From there, John will have to endure the energy-sapping climb
up Jacob's Ladder, the steep stairs running from Calton Road to the top of Calton Hill.

Then army instructors will send him through a brutal assault course before heading to Tolbooth
Wynd for the Urban Jungle challenge. Next up is a water slide down the side of Arthur's Seat before
tackling the spider's web, a rope-matrix being set up on Brown Street close to the Crags Sports Centre,
where he will face a water cannon.

As well as taking on a genuine construction site at the SoCo gap site in the Cowgate, John will face an
obstacle challenge before tackling an assault course and the Parkour Zone.  After all that, he will still
have a eight-foot climb over the high Wall of Fame.  On behalf of us all we wish you good luck on this
mad competition (and send us some photos!).  You can see more about the race

20/08/09 - The Appeal shows up in South Africa on the Lion's Tour
Sandy Geddes one of the members of the Appeal Committee recently went on an epic trip out to South
Africa following the British & Irish Lion's Rugby Team.  Along with best friend Norrie (both pictured right)
they managed to get their photograph taken at the British Consulate wearing the appeal T-shirts and to
talk to a number of folks about David and the work the Appeal does.  Their full exploits can be read in
diary which is to be found as part of the Strathclyde Police Rugby Club Fan Website - but be
warned, while very entertaining, it's not for the faint hearted or easily offended!
